  • Notice: Swim to Survive Instructor Training

    Have you wanted to be a Swim Instructor? If you are at least 15 years old, have your Bronze Cross certification, and are keen to learn – you are eligible to take the Swim For Life instructor course!

    The course is from July 7 – 10 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. (ending July 10 at 4 p.m.) at Queens Place Emera Centre, and is free for Queens County residents ($165 per person if you do not live in Queens). Attendance for the full duration of he course is mandatory, and there is practice teaching included as part of the course.

    Currently, there are 5 spots available! Book yours starting June 27 until July 2. Registration is first come first served by calling 902-354-4422 or emailing info@queensplace.ca . The course is possible through a partnership with Nova Scotia Lifesaving Society.

  • Holiday Closure: Canada Day

    Region of Queens Municipality’s Administration Office, Queens Place Emera Centre, and the Municipal Solid Waste Management Facility will be closed for the Canada Day holiday on Wednesday, July 1 in observance of the holiday.

    Waste collection will take place as scheduled on July 1.

    For water or sewer related emergencies on the municipal utility system during this time, please call the Department of Infrastructure at 902-354-7170.

  • Public Shower Facilities

    Public Shower Facilities for residents of Queens County experiencing dry wells, or housing related issues.

    Start Date: Monday, July 28, 2025
    Note: There may be times due to facility events and activities where the service is not available. Advance notice will be provided in these instances.

    Queens Place Emera Centre has opened a public shower facility for residents of Queens County experiencing housing related issues or dry wells. Queens Place Emera Centre is located at 50 Queens Place Dr., Liverpool, NS.

    Showers will be available:
    Monday – Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.& 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

    Saturday and Sunday: 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.


    Please bring your own towel and toiletries.
    Timeslots: 20 minute increments for family units of 1-2 persons. Family units of 3+ persons have one 30 minute timeslot.

    Residents can reserve timeslots by phoning the Customer Service Desk at 902-354-4422 during open hours of operation. Reserving a time in advance is not required, but is strongly encouraged to ensure the shower facilities are available upon arrival.

    Upon arrival, check in at the Customer Service Desk and sign out the dressing room key.

  • Public Notice:  Closure of Pedestrian Path to Queens Place Emera Centre Back Doors due to Pool Construction

    November 1, 2024: Construction has started at Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool for the new outdoor pool. A new pedestrian path will be created but until then, the current one is closed to allow for the construction to take place.  Access to the facility is available from all current entrances/exits, excluding the path from Highway #3 to the back entrance to Queens Place Emera Centre’s Lobby. Pedestrian access to the facility is available by using the sidewalk across from the facility along Queens Place Drive, to access the front or side entrances, or to continue to Mersey Skatepark and Etli Milita’mk Universally Designed Playground.  

    We apologize for the inconvenience (and hope you will enjoy the pool! ).

  • Public Notice: Work Underway at Queens Place Emera Centre

    October 28, 2024:  Earlier today, Monday, October 28, equipment was mobilized on site at Queens Place Emera Centre, at the exterior of the Facility near the Fitness Centre in preparation for work to begin on Tuesday, October 29. A segment of exterior wall sheathing that has shifted will be removed.  The work area has been fenced.  Facility users are advised that during the work, there will be noise while the concrete is being cut and removed.

  • Public Notice: Speed Hump Installation at Queens Place Emera Centre

    Friday, October 18, 2024: Speed hump installation will begin today at Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool at the main driveway on the approach toward the facility. The main driveway will be closed during the installation, and those visiting the facility should access the parking lot through an alternate entry point.

  • Arena Update: Operational Procedures

    There is an updated operational procedure for the arena at Queens Place Emera Centre, in effect starting Monday, June 3, 2024.

    – All skaters 18 years and under are required to wear a CSA approved helmet while on the ice surface.

    We continue to strongly recommend that all skaters, regardless of age, wear a CSA approved helmet at all times while on the ice surface. Failure to wear recommended protective equipment while using the facility is at your own risk.

  • Hosting Information for Event Managers

    The Region of Queens has taken a leadership role in regards to municipal major event attraction and execution, guided by the recent adoption of the Queens Event Strategy  supporting the Vision that “Liverpool is a prime hosting destination in Nova Scotia.” 

    The strategy promotes the use of selected municipal facilties as event venues. Queens Place Emera Centre, owned and operated by the Region of Queens is key to this initiative.

    To support the promotion of Queens Place Emera Centre as a desired and leading hosting venue, a document Facility Hosting/Spec Information for Event Managers has been created to provide the necessary introductory information to assist prospective facility renters, event rights holders and community organizations bidding on major events.
