Queens Place Emera Centre Conditions of Use
Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all those who use the facility. We ask for your support in respecting the rights of all visitors, volunteers, and staff. Unsafe, disrespectful or inappropriate behaviour could result in loss of usage privileges.
For the privacy of our patrons, the use of cell phones, cameras, and recording devices is strictly prohibited in all fitness centre locker rooms.
- All personal items should be stored in a secured locker
- Lockers are available for day use
- Users are advised to bring their own locks
- Locks left over night may be cut and items removed
- Report any equipment malfunction or damage to Customer Service Desk
- Be mindful of others; QPEC is a scent free environment
- Outdoor footwear is not permitted in the Fitness Centre
- No food or drink, with the exception of spill proof, capped water containers, is permitted in the Fitness Centre
- Turn in any found items at the Customer Service Desk
Individuals not following these guidelines may lose their fitness centre privileges.

Queens Place Emera Centre strives to be a welcoming, inclusive, and safe space for any person to access health and wellness facilities. To ensure that the Fitness Centre is an inclusive space, we appreciate you following these guidelines.
- The Fitness Centre is a scent free environment to ensure that people with sensitivities and allergies have a place to exercise without fear of reaction to scented products.
- For their safety, we ask that youth are cared for in a safe and appropriate manner.
- People 16 and older are welcome to exercise independently, but we encourage they have a Fitness Intro Session to learn gym safety practices.
- People aged 13-15 are welcome to exercise independently, but need them to complete the YouthFit Program. For more information on this program, see one of our staff.
- People under 13 cannot access the Fitness Centre or Studio unless registered for a supervised youth program.
- We welcome all bodies to use our facilities, and ask that people use the most functional clothing for their individual needs. We do ask that people wear appropriate and clean footwear, a top, and appropriate shirts, pants, or tights.
- Be sure to stay hydrated while you exercise with a spill proof, capped water container. Please do not bring glass, cans, or food into the Fitness Centre.
- This is a space for all, and we all should feel comfortable here. So, we will not accept foul language, bullying, harassment, careless play, or disruptive behaviours in the Fitness Centre. We thank you for being respectful of all!
- We want to provide the best Fitness Centre possible, so if you see any problems with the equipment, or have injured yourself, please notify staff ASAP.
- We all share this space, so be open to work in with people when doing sets, step out if you have a call, wipe down your machines, put the weights away, follow good gym etiquette.
- Please don’t use your camera in the Fitness Centre, and if you’re practicing posing, ask to use our studio for a few minutes to keep everybody comfortable in the Fitness Centre.
- Be sure to bring your lock and use a locker. We can’t accept responsibility for any stolen or damaged personal items.
- If you have any questions about our facilities, or these guidelines, our staff would be more than happy to help you out!
- It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that all skaters, regardless of age, wear a CSA approved helmet at all times while on the ice surface. Failure to wear recommended protective equipment while using the facility is at your own risk.
- Youth 18 years of age and under are required to wear a CSA approved helmet on the ice surface.
- Youth 12 years of age and under must have adult (19+ years of age) supervision in the arena during skates.
- The ice resurfacer must be off the ice and the resurfacer doors closed before any skaters enter the ice surface. For your safety, do not sit on the boards at the players benches while the ice resurfacer is on the ice. All doors entering the ice surface must remain closed until the ice resurfacer doors are closed.
- Users must exit the ice surface at the end of their rental time or when the ice resurfacer doors open. The arena operator may designate a user to be temporarily on the ice surface to assist with nets.
- No outside footwear on the ice surface; skates are required.
- Youth and adult skate aids are available for beginners. Skate aids are not to be used as toys.
- For everyone’s safety during public skates, please do not be rough, skate with excessive speed, skate against the crowd, skate backwards, play tag, race, perform figure skating maneuvers, horseplay or weave through other skaters.
- Sticks, pucks and electronic devices are not permitted on the ice surface during public skates.
- Shooting pucks, balls, tape or other items is not allowed in the dressing room hallway or other areas of the facility outside of the ice surface.
- Strollers are welcome during parent & tot and other designated skates. We ask that you please clean the wheels before entering the ice surface.
- No food and beverages on the ice surface.
- Soccer balls & footballs are not permitted to be used inside the facility for team warm-ups.
- The indoor track is not available for team or player warm ups during open operational hours.
- There is zero tolerance for abusive or foul language and/or behaviour toward other patrons, participants or staff.
- Spitting is not permitted.
- Alcoholic beverages are not permitted to be brought into the facility.
- Please place your garbage in the provided receptacles.
- Report any vandalism or faulty equipment to facility staff immediately.
- Please turn in all found items at the Customer Service Desk.
Individuals found not following these guidelines may lose their arena privileges.

- For privacy reasons please refrain from using any electronic devices with photo or recording capabilities in all areas of the dressing room. The exception being that a cell phone is permitted for the purpose of controlling music in that space or if team pictures have been arranged with the facility by the team/club for that space.
- Dressing room keys are signed out at the Customer Service Desk by an adult (19+ years of age). Youth under 19 years of age must be supervised by an adult at all times while in the dressing room.
- There is zero tolerance for abusive or foul language and/or behaviour in this space. The conduct of those in the dressing room is the responsibility of the supervising adult(s) and/or the renter.
- Renters are asked to use only the dressing room(s) they were assigned.
- Users are responsible for the conduct, safety and supervision of all participants associated with their rental.
- Users will be held responsible and billed for any damage to the premises, equipment and/or any excessive cleaning that may be required.
- Users are responsible for locking the dressing room when it is left unattended during the rental period.
- At the end of each rental, users are responsible for locking the dressing rooms and returning the key to the Customer Service Desk.
- Dressing rooms must be vacated within 25 minutes following the end of the rental period to allow for cleaning prior to the next user group. The exception may be tournaments, competitions or special events when dressing rooms may be required to be vacated more quickly.
- Users are responsible for light cleaning before leaving, including; tape and garbage.
- Spitting is not permitted.
- Alcoholic beverages are not permitted to be brought into the facility.
- Turn in all found items at the Customer Service Desk.

The indoor track is primarily designed for walking and running, but can also be used as a viewing concourse during special events and outside of operational hours.
- The indoor track is pay per use.
- Use of the indoor track is at the users own risk.
- Be aware of your surroundings and considerate of all track users and spectators.
- Payment and sign-in for the track is located in the lobby.
- Those walking will use the inside lane and follow the daily direction as posted.
- Those runners will use the outside lane and travel in the opposite direction as those walking.
- Wheelchairs, strollers and walking assists are permitted to be used on the track. Walking poles with a rubber tip appropriate for inside use, are permitted.
- Track closures will be posted for special events or private rentals.
