Join Our Team: Custodian
Region of Queens Municipality has an immediate opening for a friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our Queens Place Emera Centre (QPEC) team. We are looking for Full-Time and Part-Time QPEC Custodians.
The QPEC Custodian is responsible for ensuring that the municipal public facility, including the on-site outdoor pool pavilion, meets high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. This role is critical in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for employees, visitors and the public. Reporting to the Manager of QPEC Systems, the QPEC Custodian performs routine cleaning tasks, assists with monitoring and replenishing supplies, and addresses any custodian maintenance needs promptly. By maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, the QPEC Custodian contributes to the overall efficiency and reputation of municipal operations, promoting a healthy and safe public facility.
About You:
- You have experience in industrial sanitation (or related field)
- You understand effective commercial cleaning methods, material and equipment, including proper use of cleaning chemicals
- You have knowledge of workplace safety protocols
- You are reliable and consistent in attendance and task completion
- You are someone who is flexible to work daytime, evenings, weekends and holidays being scheduled up to 40 hours per week in the Full-Time capacity, and up to 25 hours per week in the Part-Time capacity with an understanding there could be additional hours and/or shift fluctuations based on facility needs.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Provide satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check including a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Hold and maintain up to date Intermediate First Aid, CPR C and WHMIS certifications
- Hold a valid Class 5 NS Driver’s License

Compensation:

Join Our Team: Part-Time Customer Service Representative
Region of Queens Municipality has an immediate opening for a friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our Queens Place Emera Centre team as a Part-Time Customer Service Representative.
The Part-Time Customer Service Representative is responsible for ensuring a positive and seamless experience for all facility users. As the first point of contact, this role is essential in maintaining the facility’s reputation for excellence in customer service and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include front desk operations, handling inquiries, supporting administrative functions and assisting with event coordination. By effectively communicating with users and staff, managing scheduling and billing processes, and promoting facility offerings, the representative contributes to the facility’s goal of being a premier recreational facility.

- You have strong communication and organization skills
- You are comfortable with computers, scheduling and payments
- You are able to multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- You are reliable and eager to learn
- You are someone who is flexible to work daytime, evenings, weekends and holidays being scheduled for 20 hours per week (possibility of more based on facility needs) during the summer months with shift lengths anywhere from 3 hours up to 8 hours; 15 hours per week for the remainder of the year (possibly more based on facility needs).
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and one to two years of related experience (post-secondary education in business management, tourism and hospitality management, or equivalent preferred)
- Provide satisfactory Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector and Child Abuse Register checks every 3 years during term of employment
